The PowerPaul Nifty Lite 12.8V 160Ah

The Nifty Lite 12.8V 160Ah is a premium slimline lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery designed and hand-built in Melbourne, Australia. With a depth of only 78mm, it is designed to fit in extremely tight spaces (such as behind rear seats of dual-cab utes, inside canopy setups, or under seats) without sacrificing cabin space.

4. Installation & Wiring

4.1 Mounting and Orientation

• Upright Mounting: The battery must be mounted upright on its base. Secure it firmly inside a battery cradle/tray using heavy-duty straps.
• Slimline Placement: Perfect for mounting behind the rear seats of dual-cab utes (e.g. Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger) or inside Ute canopies, mobile workshops, and caravan compartments.
• Ensure the battery is completely isolated from moisture, road debris, and direct engine bay heat.

4.2 Connecting in Parallel

• Parallel connection of up to 4 identical Nifty Lite 160Ah batteries is supported to expand total capacity.
• Series connection is strictly banned. Do not connect in series.
• Match the state of charge (within 0.1V) of all batteries before connecting them in parallel.
• Use interconnecting cables of equal length and cross-section to balance current distribution.

4.3 Fusing and Cable Connections

• External Overcurrent Protection: Because the BMS does not feature an overcurrent trip protection mechanism, you **must** install a high-quality fuse (e.g., MEGA fuse, 250A–300A depending on system load) close to the positive terminal.
• Use high-quality M8 terminal lugs and torque terminal nuts securely to prevent high-resistance connection points.

5. Troubleshooting & Support

Diagnostics Approach

The Nifty Lite uses a simplified Hardware BMS without Bluetooth capabilities. All diagnostics are carried out using standard electrical measurements:

• Voltage Measurement: Use a digital multimeter to measure voltage directly across the M8 battery terminals.
• Open Circuit Voltage: A fully charged battery should measure approx. 13.3V – 13.6V under no load.
• Under-Voltage Cutoff: If terminal voltage drops to 0V, the BMS has tripped its low-voltage protection. Apply a 12V charge source to reset the BMS.
